MilkBoy’s Open Mic night is a friendly, free night hosted by musicians FOR musicians. Over the years Milkboy Recording has been in business we’ve made many friends in our music community, come join them and us to network, try out new material, or just listen! We try to provide a consequence-free environment for musicians (young and old!) to play their music and hone their abilities. Say goodbye to Open Mic night and hello to Open MILK with host Scot Sax, songwriter of the GRAMMY-winning hit "Like We Never Loved At All" by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Scot debuted his Open MILK Night at our Bryn Mawr location...and it got so popular that we needed a bigger room for the full impact that is Open MILK! This is a whole new shindig and we are making a few changes from our traditional Open Mic format to make for the best possible experience for all. HOW IT WORKS: Sign-ups begin at 6 PM and we will be capping the number of performers to the FIRST 10 PEOPLE, NO EXCEPTIONS. Why so few? So that each performer has the chance to do 2 songs, then we go down the list again at the end for each performer to do one more. This format allows for seasoned performers to stretch out and try some new material, and emerging artists can do just that, emerge! Scot doesn't just host, but sometimes sheds a word or two about songwriting and his journey thus far (RCA record deals, songs in Blockbuster movies like American Pie etc. etc.!) And for our loyal spectators, we have some changes taking place for you as well. Open MILK Night is about music; we are trying to provide the most supportive atmosphere possible for every performer. Please show your support and respect for the people on stage by refraining from talking during performances and giving the artists your undivided attention. After all, wouldn?t you want the same from a crowd if you were performing on stage? Solo performers and acoustic duos or trios of any style are welcome, as well as poets and a cappella acts but please keep in mind elaborate stage setups take more time away from your performance so please keep it simple and everyone will be happy. |
