Jake Snider

In the words of Neil Young, "To live a love, you gotta give a love." At its core, that's what this music is founded upon.
A pianist since age five, Jake Snider uses his jazz background to create thoughtful, soul-driven songs that stand apart from the familiar. After opening for the Roots as Shape Machine's lead vocalist, Jake and his New York City band and placed top 4 in the national College Battle of the Bands competition (sponsored by GrammyU), whose finalists last year included Mike Posner and the Local Natives. At nineteen, Jake has shared the stage with Bobby Long, Parachute, Livingston Taylor and Chiddy Bang, and was invited to play the Philadelphia Folk Festival on the 88.5 WXPN stage. In his hometown Philly, he has been named one of the Best New Artists of 2010 by 88.5 WXPN's Helen Leicht.
Jake plays keys and sings. Armand Hirsch plays guitar. Doug Berns plays bass. Miles Arntzen plays drums. Although based in New York, they are frequently accompanied by a cast of harmonious characters from Philadelphia.
Jake is affiliated with BMI, and was invited to perform at the BMI/Billboard Acoustic showcase at South by Southwest music festival in Austin, TX.
