Throughout the five Saturdays of March, MilkBoy Philadelphia is taking its act on the road with a series of pop up events at its brother-establishment MilkBoy Coffee in Ardmore, culminating in a special series called MilkBoy On Tap — An Evening of Bands, Beer & Booze.

Starting on March 2, 2013, MilkBoy Coffee — just a stone’s throw from Suburban Square in Ardmore — will become MilkBoy on Tap on Saturday nights throughout the month in a series of ticketed special events from 7pm-Midnight. A new events license allows MilkBoy to use its MilkBoy Philly liquor license off site for a limited number of private events.

MilkBoy will feature a different brewer and band at each event. The series starts with Jeff Thomas’ All-Volunteer Army on March 2. The MilkBoy Pop-Up’s special keg for the evening is Long Trail Pollenator; there will also be Long Trail IPA on tap and a selection of cans ranging from progressive to proletariat. Additional specials will come in the way of Jäger and Absolut. MilkBoy Coffee’s regular menu — Turkey Avocado Sammie, Seitan Cheesesteak Wrap, Veggie Burger, MilkBoy BLT, and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available during shows.

March Line Up: Jeff Thomas’ All-Volunteer Army [March 2]; Matt Santry’s Second Life Show! [March 8]; The Gallerists, with Dirty Soap Blues Band and Doug Durlacher [March 16]; Denise Moser’s Record Release Birthday Show with special guest: Anne Hills [March 23]; Maggie Poulos, with Ocean Carolina [March 30].

It’s clear to us that the whole world is against us. First off, there is no snow. That’s a clear shot at me, a Buffalo, NY boy, who is now very confused about what season it is. I think it’s time for baseball soon… right?

Second, the powers that be are trying to shut down the internet – which is the main way I’m talking to you people now. If you haven’t heard, Congress is voting today on two bills (SOPA and PIPA – here’s an article about what they are) that would effectively censor parts of the internet. Many people, including several popular websites, are protesting the bills.

This week we have another edition of the Battle of the Burbs auditions. They are tonight at 7PM (roughly) and are free to the public. Come on out and root for your favorite local act to make it to the Finals!

Later this week we have Ben Smith and Joe D’Amico coming to jam – we just finished making Ben Smith’s new album just before we moved to our new studio. His (magnificent) album is one of the last vestiges from our old home. Come on out and celebrate it with us!

We’ll be closing early on Saturday night for a private event, so you’ll just have to find someplace else to get your boogie on.

This is our super-spooky edition of the MilkBoy Coffee newsletter as evidenced by the cringe-inducing, Halloween appropriate, Milk Boy to your leftt.

This week, as usual, we have a whole bunch of goodness coming your way in the form of food, drinks and fun!

We’ve updated our lunch specials at Ardmore with tons of delicious fare including but not limited to: Turkey Burgers, BBQ Empanadas and a transcendent Chicken Squash Corn Chowder. We are also bringing back a bunch of seasonal drink faves like Apple Cider and Pumpkin Spice drinks.

As far as shows go, MilkBoy Philly is rife with musical monstrosities(in a good way!) – Thursday we’ll have Satellite Hearts, Sherman (the band), Filmstar and Bus Farm; Friday will feature Shorty Boy Boy w/ The Tweeds, Big Fat Marker and Marigolds; Saturday we’ll show The Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret with special guests: Johnny Showcase and the Lefty Lucy Cabaret and Tammy Faymous; Sunday night we’re showcasing DJ Architekt in an Industry Night Blowout: MISCHIEF NIGHT @ Milkboy;

And then on Wednesday of next week (Nov 2nd) we’re bringing in Le Butcherettes!

In Ardmore, we have a ton of great bands coming your way this weekend including, Mal Scoppa and the Tall Tales, The Great Afternoon, Up the Chain, Hope Waits, Namoli Brennett, and The Selkies!

On Sunday, we’ll be closed to the public (starting around 2PM) for the Meridee Winters Halloween Show!

What is up with this weather?

Last week it was fall, then it was summer again and now it’s cold and rainy. My antibodies don’t know what to think!

At any rate, you’ll be relieved to know that MilkBoy has you covered in any meterorological situation. Iced Teas and Smoothies for when it’s 80 degrees out, Pumpkin Spice Lattes for when it’s cold and dreary and delicious food (Seriously. Try the Chipotle Turkey Sliders on the dinner menu) for when you get stuck inside the store during a hurricane or tornado.

If you happen to get stuck at MilkBoy Philly, there’s always booze, too…

We’ll also provide the entertainment! MilkBoy Philly has a slate of great shows this week including the wonderful (and SOLD OUT) Lisa Hannigan on Thursday; Eytan and the Embassy w/ Jesse Reuben and Wendy on Friday; and on Saturday, Mason Porter w/ Andrew Gray (of Hoots & Hellmouth) and Ron Gallo (Toy Soldiers).

We got some action happening out in the ‘burbs as well — on Thursday we have McRad w/ The Gerunds, The Phoenix Veil and Members Only – on Friday night we’re bringing in The Barn Swallows w/ The Stray Birds and Tim Gleeson – and on Saturday we’ve got “The Living Room Series” with Rosemary Ostrowski.

Hi All!

Just a quick update on what’s going on here at MilkBoy:

We’re keeping our kitchen open late on nights when there are shows! That’s right: no more rushing over to Bella Italia for a quick slice before the show. Stay in-shop and enjoy some of our new Dinner Menu items like Chipotle Turkey Sliders, Flatbread Pizza, or Seitan Empanadas! Woo!

Take advantage of it this Friday when we have Andrew Beerer w/ The Carpet Squares and JD Eicher. It’s an $8 Presale/$10 Door ticket. It’s gonna be a regular hootenanny up in here, so come on out and get’cher groove on!

The problem from our side of the counter occurs when a couple of people come in for breakfast or lunch and decide what they want at the counter, ask a couple of question, change their order and then decide who’s going to pay…you know the scenario. All the while you’re waiting in line just to get a large cup of coffee to go! SO, by moving that transaction to the table where a waiter can answer the questions, we have dramatically sped up our to-go orders. We are super excited, too. And the best part for those dining/drinking in? Our “for here” cup of coffee is now bottomless, for the low, single price of $2.50. That’s right, drink as much as you want. Get wired. Get REALLY AWAKE. And have a great day.  :)

On Sunday, June 26th, he, Sam Gongol and Jake Ohlbaum will be gracing our stage with their presence.
